Nobody Told Me

I failed again and now I have to somehow keep living with myself.

Nobody told me that adulthood would be so hard.

Nobody told me how do deal with a Baker Act incident for someone close.

Nobody told me how to process the death of young friends.

Nobody told me how I am supposed to live alone.

Nobody told me how to process the trauma of a sexual assailant.

Nobody told me how to recover from an eating disorder.

Nobody told me that depression would come swinging so early in life.

Nobody told me how to get through an anxiety attack.

Nobody told me how to have comfort after a miscarriage.

Nobody told me how to process someone committing suicide.

There are so many things in this life that just cannot be prepared for,

no matter how hard you try,

no matter how many books you read,

no matter who warns you,

no matter what.

Every day terrible things happen,

that we didn't see coming,

that we never dreamed possible,

that drive us slightly insane,

but there is One who promises to

hold our hand,

softly speaking to our spirit,

and passionately loving us through it all.
