No More Tears
I have tried but can not comprehend
By A. Keith ClementPublished 5 years ago • 1 min read

I have tried but can not comprehend
you were to give life; we were to be three
that night there wasn't two; there were three
lives that perished, you the baby and me
I stood by you
holding your hand
overwhelmed, helpless
a useless man
empty, unable to move
just a shell of a man
tears no longer descend from my eyes
the rivers have run dry
now I respectively stand
as a statue sculptured formed from the sand
gazing across the endless sea
the moon reflecting my love to thee

I write poetry and short stories it is a necessity for me. It keeps me happy.
Without knowing it until I was forty-seven, my life has been a work in progress that began in my youthful years as a child and has continued to this day.
