“No Limitations”

Dear Mother explained, on a gloomy school afternoon.

She said! Life is not given on a silver spoon.

I am giving this advice, so please take heed.

This is my life savings, and a living deed.

There are no limitations, I am raising six kids.

Alone, yet with devotion, everything I did.

Destitute and crippled, what difference does it make?

My endeavors are real, my circumstances are not fake.

There are no limitations, polio has hindered my walk.

So, tell me my child. Like you! Should I stand and sulk?

For my ailments could not hold or keep me down.

My disabilities give me no regrets, nor a reason to frown.

There are no limitations to what anyone can do.

There are no limitations unless negativity is in you.

My pine crutches may help to aid with my movements.

However, each stride I take must be an improvement.

There are no limitations, for a child, woman, or man.

Since the age of five, I have been handicapped, and if I can.

Nothing should stop the healthy, as long as you are alive.

You see my child! Self-determination and you will surely survive.
