I come from a special place, a city by the sea
A small but mighty race, filled with community
Always got each-others back, nothing splits us in two
However, we will ask; Are you red or are you blue?
Liverpool is my home and some say we’re stuck in our ways
But you never walk alone, especially on match days
Our musicians superstars; living or dead
But all we really care, you a blue or a red?
Everton claim to be the city’s team
Whilst Liverpool are off winning the league
Everton cries “they’re just a foreign club”
Liverpool replies, with its ruby red blood
For The 96 and Little boy blue
We hold our hands and hearts
Pay our respects, honour the years
And make it through the dark
A resilient city stands strong with our Three Graces high
You hear about us in song, to live and let die
Trouble at worst, loved at best but side by side in all we do
Fly the flag, pass the test. Tell us though; red or blue?
Sisters and Brothers, separated by colour
Arguing with lovers, because they support the other
My family just the same, to their teams they stay true
Others cry it’s just a game, but not to a red, nor to a blue.
People full of history and a land full of heritage
Passion over glory. My home is my privilege
I travelled far and wide, everything brand new
My accent couldn’t hide, so they asked; red or blue?
Streets full of diversity, I fit in loud and proud
Some people think we’re crazy, the rest know we’re sound.
So I boast my cities colours, although I haven’t got a clue.
And if I am being honest, it’s for my brother why I’m blue
