A Summer Sonnet

To both the game

Does my skin tingle in warmth from the heat or

from you?

Match of the day is tennis and we go from love

to deuse

Do you make the birds sing? Do you turn the

sky blue?

You take the game but I could

never lose

The season enters our day with

great timing

A breeze so light and refreshing it is

a kiss

The brightness in your eyes make mine all the

more blinding

Our youthful laughter rings out

in bliss

The Sun guides our bodies as we

touch the grass

I smell the blossom and receive

your scent

Cake and lemonade as we let the

world pass

Aching muscles and a full heart feels like a day

well spent

Floating on a soft embrace in the circle of golden hour

We say goodnight to the tree, to the leaf, and to the flower

nature poetry
