Not Trying to Disturb You

I don’t want to bother

I don’t want to pry

I just want to check in

I’m attempting to try

following all the rules

has become harder and harder

but there’s no room to negotiate

no room to barter

I’m trying to take care

I’m attempting to help everyone out

but the barriers between us

are making my anxiety trip out

I want to be there

and I want to be here

I’m trying to connect

without shedding a tear

I miss you tomorrow

and miss you today

but it’s hard with this virus

to visit my family

and obey

sad poetry
