Did you know
That there would be a spot on US1 that
No one wants to drive by?
I'll bet you didn't.
I'll bet you didn't know
There would be easily two hundred and
Fifty people or more at our lil ol' Pub
To celebrate your life and your love.
No,
I'll bet you didn't know that.
I'll bet you didn't know
That four months after your transition
There would still be a beer and a chair for you.
I'll bet you didn't know
There would be silent tears
When we come across your tools.
I'll bet you didn't know
That we'd keep them forever.
I'll bet you didn't know
People that love you
And one that didn't get to meet you
Will still buy you a shot and do it with you
and I'll bet you didn't know
That no one would want to park in your
Spot for months after.
I'll bet you didn't know
your face would dance in our minds
Forever
And that your voice would play in our ears
as long as we can hear.
No,
I'll bet you didn't know
That your Facebook would become
a sacred place on social media
Where we look at your photos
Over and over just to see you
Roll your eyes.
I'll bet you didn't know
That your ashes would dance
Into the sky
As people who loved you watched
From above and below.
No,
I'll bet you didn't know that.
I'll bet you didn't know
Of the many hearts that would break
On the day that you died.
How many more times they
Would break in the coming months.
How many tears would fall.
How many lives would shift.
I'll bet you didn't know
The fire that would ignite
With your death
And how it would burn forever
In your absence.
No.
I'll bet you didn't know that.
But you do now.
