Nightmares of Vengeance

In the Depths of Darkness, Where Evil Flourishes

Deep in the darkness, where evil grows,

A dark, evil heart makes a sign,

An spark is on fire with anger,

A soul filled with never-ending night.

The hate seed was planted in silence.

Twists into thorns, a mind thrown over,

This angry darkness can't be broken by light,

The place where devils leave their twisted mark.

A cold and sharp piece of ice,

Very mean and sharp, it cuts through justice,

In this dark quest for revenge, a person is dragged to a terrible hell.

There is poison in every bite of vengeance.

A ghost's laugh and a snake's hiss,

The chains that hold things together squeeze and break,

Until reason turns as cold as ice.

A doomed loop, "an eye for an eye,"

All of them are left in the dark and in pain.

The wheel of fear, the loop, turns.

Like demons who eat the dead.

Forgiveness killed, kindness shed blood,

All hope is lost in the grip of revenge,

A low wail, a quiet scream,

The sound of love, a broken dream.

Listen to this message, it's loud and clear.

Keep your anger in check,

Because after it, a nightmare waits,

With teeth, claws, and cruel ends.

What a powerful reminder! Revenge may seem sweet but it'll ultimately turn sour. Great work :)

Very scary, but relatable; your poetry drew me in and kept me reading till I ended. I wondered what was on your mind when you wrote it. Your mind went all out. Your skills as a poet include being creative, picturing terrible things, and composing this poem. I applaud you, Dr. Jason!
