To my new neighbour

My neighbour is unique

That’s what he probably thinks

when he lights up a cigarette

occasionally

on his balcony

being a theatre stage for him

as an actor

and with me

as a forced spectator

who has to observe these

Danse Macabre scenes and alcoholic antics

He is trained in martial arts

This is what it sounds like

when he blows out his lungs

in the middle of the night

When he sneezes

the whole town has to know

that unrelated, unrelenting utterance

I am awakened by laughter

by no means mine

He sings arias to me

at any time of the day or night

His leftovers

are scrubbed off the plate all evening

when he’s not masturbating obscenely

in front of the whole city

on his balcony

overlooking the vicinity

of birds of different mobility

You can hear his pissing and spitting

on the verge of sanity

his and mine

due to this kind of behaviour

leaving the silent voices of my other neighbours

Is that’s how it should be

that we don’t give a damn about anything

in this world covered in obscurity

of real humans?

'I see humans, but no humanity '

when I have to give up valuable things

because of him –

a scarecrow for my audacity
