Never Kid a Kidder
You think I am dim, but I am actually very bright

Never Kid a Kidder
You can smile and play your game
you can talk like you know the score
but I have walked that road before
and I see the truth behind your eyes
You think I will swallow your sugar words
and not taste the steel underneath
you think I will miss the way you stand
ready to turn before the storm hits
I grew up hearing half truths and lies
learning how to read a room in a breath
watching hands as much as mouths
counting what‘s missing not what was said
The world teaches hard if you listen
I learned the rules before I could write
to take what’s mine and guard it well
and know when the cards are marked
So keep your tricks for someone else
I can smell a bluff before you blink
and I will call it with nothing in my hand
just the look that says I know
Never kid a kidder
we write the ending before you start
and I have already written yours

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️

Very nice, Marie. I have been out of action for the last couple of days, so I have some catching up to do. If I don't get to all your work, it is not because I don't want to.
