Never Get My Way That Way

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

[Verse 1]

She weaves her stories like a silken web

Each thread pulled tight with every tear she sheds

Her sad smile's a hook

Her tired sigh's a chain

She whispers love but feeds on his pain

I've seen the way she bends his mind

Turns his doubt into her toxic shrine

[Chorus]

But I... I would never play that game

I’d never wear his guilt like fame

I've never tried to get my way that way

I’d hold him free...Not in my hand

Love's not a cage...It's where you stand

[Verse 2]

Her eyes are a storm

That quietly demands

She plants her lies like grains of sand

Her sorrow’s loud... A practiced song

She builds him up just to prove him wrong

I've seen her shadows on his face

He's an empty man in her embrace

[Chorus]

But I... I would never play that game

I’d never wear his guilt like fame

I've never tried to get my way that way

I’d hold him free...Not in my hand

Love's not a cage...It's where you stand

I would never ever play that game

I’d never wear his guilt like fame

I've never tried to get my way that way
