Neon Love

the power of a summer night

By CheyannePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I was walking downtown one night,

The air full of comfort,

While the birds settle down in the nest next to the neon light,

And everyone headed home from work,

That is where I witness,

A couple on the first date,

I wonder if anyone else can see this,

There’s no time to waste,

I must write to you that I love you, love

But not in the way you think,

For if it were not summer I wouldn’t have dreamt of,

What hearts look like when they’re in sync,

She leads and he begins to follow,

But his shoes are too tight,

why wait for tomorrow,

When you could do this all night?

Swaying like the leaves dancing on the trees,

I begin to think that they hear what I’m listening to,

So as the bird’s song had seized,

They give me one look and that’s when I knew,

Oh what a summer night can do.
