Nature & Nurture

Black Women & Nature Connection

Mother and nature

So intimately connected.

Nature’s Mother.

Living with and without.

Demanding rights

And living off the light.

But often neglected

And sparsely respected.

Her power quietly

Controlled and her virtues,

To nurture and serve,

Often go without reward.

Overlooked but depended on Tremendously.

Remains driven by heart

But often abused and misused

at the price of body, mind, limbs, and Sacred water.

Water that runs cool and hot

With so many bowls

Trying to contain her

But she remains abundant and full.

Ready to serve,

However if we do not care for

and realize the gifts she brings.

The water will run dry

and the winds will deviously roar,

as the fire consumes us

in the efforts to make us feel her pain.

If only we would witness

and change our ways.

If only we would move

to restore the balance

of creator and creations.
