my visible spectrum

depends on your perspective

By Ellie Van CampPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

color me in

scribble outside my lines

soft curves

moving like waves

& harsh jagged edges

where I have been bent,

broken & hardened

put back together again

whole

to be filled once more

I will still be the same form

no matter what hues you choose

I will always be

& yet it depends on the day

what you will see

I shift & change

adjusting to my surroundings

while consistently a chameleon

blending in

still a reptile no matter the color of my skin

I am always where I need to be

as who I need to be

I am

every blue hue calming & cooling

bringing peace to chaos & confusion

going up in flames of blazing red

passion & inspiration

pleasure & pain transmuted

used to fuel me forward

there is a method to my madness

I am

dandelion yellow

medicine with a lesson

disguised as a weed

bright eyes

big smile

inner child just wanting to laugh & play

imagine, wonder & create

curious, questioning

so many ways to think about things..

I am blooming in orange

& pink

petals opening when nature tugs at my leaves

delicate & gentle

fragrant scents dance around

the smell of colors in motion

I am violet

amethyst

indigo

I am sparkling metallic

copper

silver

gold

iridescent

I cannot be diluted down

I am no chroma

dark matter

the space between stars

I am white light

shining into darkness

entering a clear pyramid

refracting into every color

& through a magnifying glass,

a crystal ball

sparking

igniting

& scrying

I am every color you want to paint me

while underneath what you choose to see

I will always be me

in my entirety

& that is what makes me unique
