My Ten Commitments

I Promise

By Earl W. PearlPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

I’ll worship God and only God

On crooked paths I will not trod

To idols I will never pray

So worthless, helpless, lifeless they

I’ll never take God’s name in vain

Or blaspheme His Almighty reign

I’ll go to church and worship Him

To fill my chalice to the brim

I’ll always honor Mom and Dad

Recount the family years we had

A persons blood I’ll never spill

A child conceived I’ll never kill

I’ll keep my vows and never cheat

No indiscretion will I greet

Whenever hungry, I won’t steal

I’ll trust in God for my next meal

I won’t connive, I won’t be sly

I won’t deceive, I will not lie

I won’t desire my neighbor’s wife

Nor covet someone else’s life
