My Surrendered Heart
Photo by Chris Ensminger on Unsplash

You meet my gaze from across the room

like a wolf stalking its prey.

My cheeks flush

engulfed with thoughts of your tender embrace.

I close my eyes to hear you whisper

My heart begins to race

I glide my fingertips

to trace the lines of your sweet face.

I surrender

to the sting of that beautiful kiss.

I crave you

like a warrior hungers for a hearty feast

after an endless day of battle.

My head sinks into a perfect pile of pillows.

As I close my eyes

the energy flies

I can almost feel your warmth

as tears slide down my face

This love that never seems to go any place

Everywhere my heart begins to race.
