My poem titled: Why her?
Trigger warning: This poem is about sexual abuse

Start writing...She was an innocent and sweet little red rose
She laughed and loved with no boundaries
She played and fluttered around like a little butterfly
Spreading her wings freely from side to side
All the blues, purples and pinks is what made her
So why? Why did this have to happen?
Why did your shades of darkness be placed upon her?
You took advantage of her innocence
And preyed on her without a thought
Why? Tell me why?
A piece of this innocent and sweet child was taken
The laughter and love that was once so strong
Was drained from every part of her being
Like the colour of blood rushing from a dieing person's body
You changed her
Tell me why?
Why did she have to experience such pain
The pain and memories were forever lodged into her mind
She couldn't understand why she feared commitment
Or why she feared to be loved or touched
So, to protect herself from the hurt and pain
She grew cold
She became ice cold
Why though? Why her?
As years passed
As the ones that loved her left
Because she didn't know how to love them back
She asked the question one last time
Why?
The answer did not come though, so she changed
She decided to change
She decided the love was something she wanted
She decided the love and laughter was something she deserved
She learnt that there was one and only one thing to do
Forgive!
So she did just that
Not for "him"
But for "her"
She broke the shackles of power you had over her
What happened to her was never going to have a hold over her again
Through forgiveness she found freedom
Through forgiveness the red rose bloomed again
Through forgiveness the butterfly that once fluttered her gorgeous blues, purples and pink wings was back
Through forgiveness she found freedom
That's her why.
