In My Mother's Spirit

My place of safety is not in a building

Nor is it in my home

My place of safely is endless

and runs for miles along the shore.

My place of safety holds all of my tears

My place of safety handles all of my fears.

I can scream at the top of my lungs

I can cry until my spirit is empty

only to have My place of safety embrace

my spirit and fill me up way up there.

Do you want to know where I am safe at?

Where I can tell my dreams and my concerns?

It's sitting here on the sand

at the beach

with your picture in my hand

Crying out my sorrow on you not being here

and feeling the release of all the love that you gave

My place of safety is in the memories of you

Mommie

with the water washing over me

again and again and again.
