My Nemesis

is dying

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

My nemesis is dying

Her brain cannibalizing itself

Chewing up and swallowing her

Essence and soul like a

Hunger crazed bird of prey

Picking at a slimy, rotting carcass on the side of the road

Grabbing and twisting and tearing apart

Everything her soul once cherished

Everything she claimed she stood for

Denying her the chance to look

Back at her life and possibly feel

Remorse for the pain she has caused to

Me and the others she claimed to love

A love drenched in selfishness and rampant ego

She is now locked in the dark oblivion

Deep in the caverns of self-denial

She’ll never say ‘I’m sorry.”

She’ll never ask for forgiveness

And I can’t find it in my heart to feel

Anything but relief as her light fades away

Allowing others to heal from her cruelty

My nemesis is dying
