To me, you were my mom
and always will be
you put fire in my soul
and taught me to be strong
how can I thank you
for all you've given me
Our God can hear above
let Him tell you of my love
just your hands on my head
sent a message to me
to always stand up and be proud
to what is not allowed
through all the years at home
I knew I was never alone
I knew you were always there
showering my mother with care
what makes a woman like you
who can give and give again
you knew of both our limits
you knew what you needed to give
I will never question your doing
and why you did not step in
because I knew the in her
needed the mother in you
(To a beautiful grandmother, torn between two she loved.)
(A mother's mother; able to separate both; and be the mother to them both)
