My Mirror Image of a Memory

As I watch the wind blow through her hair, I reflect on an image from years before.

She has that same twinkle in her eye, that same smile, cheek bones, and beauty, yet she is all her own.

She carries the heart, the determination, the strength of the one before as she stepped into the role of caretaker.

She speaks I hear the past, she gets close I feel a heartbeat, she smiles my tears flow. She is the mirror image of my little girl, only on this side of the mirror.

I canโ€™t look at her without my heart skipping beats, but she carries my greatest treasure inside her soul.

She never knows my true thoughts or feelings as we share the same space, I keep my distance because every breath she takes feels like it is for three.
