My Lifesong

Millennial Reality

By EvieLeePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Start writing... I loved to craft and edit

I loved film and show

But these passions labeled me dramatic, sports star was the way to go

I loved to be hands on

To experience new and exciting things

But once again, college mattered most,

and I a bird with clipped wings

I could have fought the current

Could have been against the grain

But my insecurities dominated me

Need for acceptance my greatest pain

The years have made me stronger

Made me confident in who I am

Yet my reflection is that of age and fading

Irrelevant, forgotten, too old to start again.

I'd like to be that girl again

To stand right where she stood

To fix what all was lacking, broken,

Misunderstood.

Yet 33 is where life finds me

My curtain already drawn

I'm now the stagehand, the homing beacon

For four new glorious songs.

What I've found most interesting

Is the more time that goes on

My heart still feels the same age and longing

As the first day of my song.
