My Inner Dragon Rider

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

The flames have left scars that will last a lifetime

I see them every time I look in the mirror

all reminding me of the battles once won

and lost.

I may be alive, but part of me died in those wars,

consumed in those flames

and only the marks remain.

I am hardened, like warriors usually are

my eyes speak a thousand words that I cannot pour from my lips,

and my heart is no longer pure.

I was chosen to fight and fight I shall

till the very last breath I have in my lungs.

I will show them my wrath, like I have before,

show them the monster they created,

my flames will roar

and I will not die today.

Wow, this is one fiery piece! The way you capture resilience through flames and scars is intense. It’s like saying, "I’ve been through the fire, but I'm not backing down!" Love the fierce energy!
