My Immortal Dog — A Love Story

You were the light of my life and the love of my soul.

Coming from the shelter many years ago, we both embarked on a journey unlike any other I have ever known.

In the beginning, you were a total basket case.

You were afraid of moving cars, men, noise, black shirts, uniforms, firecrackers, clouds in the sky, sunglasses, tall people, beards, hats, skateboards, getting into and out of my car, grass, and wet surfaces — pretty much everything!

You taught me to venture into unknown territory and see the world from your point of view.

Eventually, the nearly impossible happened

You became a happy dog.

It made my heart sing.

You made a huge difference in the lives of the humans and animals you met.

Without your presence and all of the wounds that you carried, I would have never begun the path of animal healing - thank you for teaching me the patience and the perseverance that it takes to heal from abuse.

Was it a quick fix? No.

Would I do it all over again?

In a heartbeat.

Boy, it was so worth it! Enjoying life took on a new meaning when I saw you blossom.

You inspired me to become a healing practitioner, which turned out to be an emotional lifesaver for you and a total eye-opener.

I wasn’t sure I could do this, but it all changed when you took your last breath. My perceived barriers disappeared, and my intuitive skills kicked in.

You noble one, you wiggly butt, my sweetie boy, I see you dance in heaven.

The Hindu god Shiva is a complex character who may represent goodness and benevolence, and he serves as the Protector. Shiva is also associated with Time, and in this capacity, he is both the destroyer and creator of all things.
