My Imaginary Friend

A Poem of Depression

By Taylor LancasterPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

He held my hand and walked me through the bad

He showed me how to be tough and not get hurt

The way he did this though is just unique

He told me everyone is always watching

Everyone is always judging

Because you can never live up to what you’re supposed to be

Always have a back up plan he said

Because people will always leave you hurt

But if you don’t let them get to close you can’t get hurt

And if you always expect hurt there will be no great hurt

And you can’t change someone’s judgment of you it will always be there

It will follow you no matter how far you run

But hold my hand and we can defeat it together

I held his hand and I followed his lead till it was too late

Now it seems everything I touch crumples

And his grasp I can not be free of

He controls me and I let him do it

sad poetry
