My Heart Longs for You

As if it bled...

I arrived today to find a dozen roses

carefully arranged in a crystal vase.

A new love song, my heart composes ...

from so far away, I feel your embrace.

*

A beautiful tear, I silently shed ...

my heart longs for you, as if it bled.

*

The softest touch, their petals caress ,

across my fingers, down my cheek .

Sensation a single rose can express

but you've given twelve of them to speak.

*

Without words, so much you've said...

my heart longs for you, as if it bled.

*

A symbol of our immortal devotion ,

they whisper to me, when you cannot.

Stronger than the sweetest love potion ,

for all my life this passion I’ve sought.

*

The rose's soft petals, in colors of red ...

my heart longs for you, as if it bled.
