My Heart

My heart is gentle and loves to love.

It loves life, loves beauty,

and it would wither if it could not love.

A friend to all who love,

my heart knows no hatred but can be angered and then made

peaceful.

It cannot sever ties; it’s too delicate, and to cut off love would be to cut itself.

It feels wounded and could die,

its spirit revived only by the grace of those it holds dear.

My heart loves truth and sincerity,

it does not betray and can sense deceit in those around it.

It does not deny its soul’s need to fly and soar in love’s vast domain;

in fact, it flies faster, welcoming each love with a dance

and joyfully embracing what it longs to fulfill.

Its loyalty is its guide, its sincerity the light that leads it.

My heart doesn’t wear the robe of harshness,

but in times of crisis, it is unyielding.

It loves nature, detests pretense and deceit.

It cherishes pure women—

my mother, my sister, my wife, my daughter,

and any woman with whom my connection is untouched by corruption.

My heart is devoted to my faith, to the Prophet, and to all messengers I believe in though I’ve never seen them.

It aligns with the Kingdom of God, with His Qur'an, with His books and the scrolls carried by His prophets, for it believes with certainty and affirms the oneness of the Creator of all worlds.

My heart is kind, poetic, and wildly driven to do good.

It loves engineering and all arts.

Its description is self-evident, and there is no need to ask.

I’ll say no more, lest I lose what I hold so dear.

My words are meant for anyone who understands and loves without shame.

Greetings to every heart that loves compassionate hearts like mine.

And curses upon hearts that are treacherous and mean-spirited.
