My Happy Ending

Where is it?

By Ken DonnerPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

You know when I was just a young boy,

Mother'd often say to me,

My son, my son, my pride and joy,

One day you'll raise a family,

Days all filled with life and laughter,

Like she thought it was supposed to be,

A story book, an ever after,

She thought that life's epitome,

(chorus)

So where the fuck's my happy ending,

I thought it’d be here by now,

How many false starts and lost weekends,

Can any man allow,

I’ve stumbled through and done my part,

Suffered for both life and art,

So where the fuck’s my happy ending,

I want it, and I want it now!

Pretty soon I was a young man,

They slapped my back and wished me well,

Go on and do the best you can,

Things will work out, time will tell,

How'd I know they were platitudes,

On deafened ears most often fell,

I took the empty praise to heart,

But soon found out life could be hell,

(chorus)

Now time's gone on and I am older,

Life's thrown many a twisted curve,

Learned one must be a good deal bolder,

To get what you think you deserve,

Intentions pave the road to hell,

And folk mean well with what they say,

But don't always buy what they sell,

It's all a crapshoot anyway!

(chorus)

About the Creator

Ken Donner

Been writing since I was 9 years old or so.

Can't help myself.

It's how I'm wired.

A multitude of verse.

"I may never learn to fly, but keep the sky above me open, just in case."
