I remember sitting on Grampa's lap as a kid
Him giving me some of his shandy
And I remember playing cards with him late at night
When those jokers came in handy
And I remember doing crossword puzzles together
Me sitting at his side
Hoping to get the answers right
To feel an inkling of his pride
Like all families, we've had our ups and downs
As well as our wrongs and rights
We've had our laughs and our cries
Our good times and our fights
But still he was a good man
And did the best that he could
And when someone needed a helping hand
If he could help, he definitely would
I will cherish the memories I have of him
And keep him etched into my heart
For he was a good man with a good soul
And he will be missed now that's he's had to part
So now all I have left to hold in my heart
Are the memories of a great man
Who loved his family deeply
And who's memory I'll hold as hard as I can
And though I have cried many tears
And it's hard to say of goodbye
I will remember all that was good in him
And try smile now, instead of cry
So Grampa, I just want to say I love you
And I'll miss you more than words can say
And I'll keep your memory alive and strong
Today, tomorrow, next week ... every day
