My favourite colour

All of them?

By Anna GreerPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

What's your favourite colour?

Rainbow, I said.

That's not a colour, shaking their head

But how could one colour alone bring me joy?

Why only one dream and one favourite toy?

What a beautiful world right under my nose

Try to capture it all with the colour I chose

I've never been able to walk a straight line

Zig zags more my style, no need for wine

One day it's yellow, then the brick road turns green

Then I change my mind, choose a violet sheen

Indecisive is what I've been called

Limits leave me scarlet, pine, cobalt

Angry the world is being hidden away

Envious of others in lives other shades

Deeply depressed in my homogenous dress

It can't be just one colour to which I say yes

Please have your one way, if it makes you feel safe

I'll brave the rain pouring down and have faith

Never poor weather, just the poorly prepared

The world brims with dreams to be dared

What's your favourite colour?

Rainbow, I said.

When I could have the world, how could I want just "red"?
