My dreams conjured another ghost tonight

Of one well known, who sits alone by his hearth

Every Christmas eve

Yep! You guessed of whom I speak

Of course, tis of poor Ebenezer Scrooge

Rich in money, yet poor in holiday cheer

I've read the book, I watched many a TV show

He even has cartoons and caricatures in tow

Yet, I never can get enough of Scrooge's story

How riches, greed, love of power and money

Broke the heart of one who loved him so very dearly

Still he mustered on, chasing the almighty dollar

Ebenezer and partner Jacob Marley were a pair

They squeezed every last dollar from the rich and poor

His partner when lost, Ebenezer he said, woe is he

Scrooge got crosser and crosser, as the English say

The years they took a toll, no love was spared for him

Loneliness overcame him, his spirit grew more vexed

This unhappy man shut the whole world out

"What do you want of me, Ebenezer Scrooge"? I asked

"Tis been many years, I know" He said

"Yet within this world, there are so many like me,

One would think that they would learn from my story

Tis told every year, maybe a little more jolly than before

Yet, only a few, I see, are still willing to care and share

The holiday spirit. Forget themselves, be of cheer".

"My views exactly, my ghostly friend, tis not for lack

I try and try. Maybe now, if I mention your name

Actually, I bah humbug a lot, they know of you

So now that you have lent your famous voice

Cheer will awaken everywhere, in hearts to abound

Our world today, can use all the help it can get

So, though in dreams we meet

When I awake, I shall try even harder

To spread your message far and wide".

Ebenezer, joined by Jacob, no longer in chains

Bid me a fond adieu, with good luck thrown in

The hard part now begins, I greatly fear awaking now

Will anyone listen, or even want to hear of cheer

Well, I certainly will give it my heartiest try!

By the Dickens' I will (Charles Dickens)

Let's begin with a heartfelt and warm

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
