My Esmeralda

Of the one I wish could see me

By Syed Arabi KhaliquePublished 3 months ago Updated 3 months ago 1 min read
Me looking at my Esmeralda

What I am is the Hunchback of Notre Dame,

Who looks for his Esmeralda everywhere in vain,

And if you see her, please call my name,

For this curse known as love has been my bane.

I have walked thousands of miles for my restless heart,

As if it looks out for a sea in the sands of the Sahara but,

It doesn't speak, nor does it convey what it seeks,

That makes me wander these lonely streets for weeks.

Roads lead me somewhere, but they leave me stranded nowhere,

For all the colors in the world fade in sight of her rare,

And utter beauty, but it may be my eyes that sees such.

Nah, she is the loveliest and deserves very so much.

I never knew how to dance, but I would dance with my Esmeralda,

And an idiot I would look, but I would be the gladdest idiot,

For that's how the Hunchback of Notre Dame must have felt

When he saw his Esmeralda for the first time.
