In the shadows, I build a fortress,

A realm of distraction, a silent address.

To shield my heart from love's cruel sting,

I hide within, where memories cling.

A dance of smiles conceals my pain,

But deep within, the wounds remain.

With laughter, I paint a facade so bright,

Hiding the tears that fall in the night.

Love's tendrils reached, so fragile and sweet,

But left a trail of heartache, incomplete.

I've woven this mask, this armor so tough,

To guard against love's tender rebuff.

Yet in solitude's embrace, I find my grace,

A sanctuary where pain finds its space.

My distract, my refuge, love's bitter art,

Shielding my soul, a guarded heart.
