My College Friend

A tribute to the laughter, lessons, and bonds that time can’t erase

By Fazal HadiPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

We met in crowded lecture halls,

two names on a long attendance list,

yet somehow, in the shuffle of strangers,

you became the one I’d never forget.

We shared coffee more than textbooks,

late-night talks more than sleep,

our worries spilled across dorm room walls,

our secrets stitched into the silence we kept.

You taught me that friendship

isn’t measured by years or distance,

but by the ease of laughter,

the comfort of being seen,

the way one glance can say, I understand.

There were exams and heartbreaks,

dreams too big for the classrooms we sat in,

but side by side, we carried them all—

with jokes, with courage, with faith in each other.

Now life has scattered us,

into new cities, new chapters,

but whenever I think of who I was becoming,

I remember how you stood beside me,

reminding me I was never alone.

Because a college friend

isn’t just a companion of youth—

they are a mirror of who we were,

and a bridge to who we still hope to be.
