i'm not sorry for [what i said], but i'm sorry for [how i said it]

for my part in our past, i am sorry.

i am overbearing and reactionary- an emotional catalyst, radioactive- unbothered by the looming promise of unending fallout until the long winter begins to settle, denied the cyclical change of season. i never needed to be the last voice left spoken, ever so ungently, i just wanted to be heard, but my explosive nature overtook my meaning.

for my part in allowing the nuclear option to seem reasonable, i am sorry.

i've seen my reflection, true, in the faces of people with whom i never wanted to share value. i am only one by my lonesome, not greater than nor less than any other; numbers do not lie. i did not intend to come out as a differential equation, but my value was overstated when i felt inconsequential.

for my part in the inequities left between us, i am sorry.
