To the mum sitting on the train in front of me
It seems you are very much the same
As a mum I witnessed just the other day
In an entirely different state from a completely different life
yet both with your little ones
asking you endless questions
In an attempt to capture the attention
And simultaneously magnify the imagination of your small human
When your daughter wanted to stand up,
You asked her simply to "count how many dogs there were looking out the train window?"
The mum in the other state said "how many people can you see that all look different getting off the plane?"
Dear mums, It amazes me how you have so many questions ready for every possible occasion and for all situations to keep their hearts and brains ticking away with all the curiosities of the world.
and better still, after watching all the people get off the plane that your little girl said 'she couldn't find anyone that was different' because everyone was the same, "just trying to get home."
and that's the power of mums they bring wisdom into the world through questions and activities, not statements of knowledge but trust in love.
There is another mum sitting near me now as I write this with a newborn crying away
Their questions don't work yet to distract the attention
But don't worry, soon they will.
