You can be anyone and enjoy a sunset

I often draw and write about sunsets.

I guess subconsciously they are to me, the epitome of peace and new beginnings.

They represent life and death.

Beginnings and ends

Being alone and together.

For you can be anyone and enjoy a sunset. Just as miraculous for a local or a traveler, majestic for a 6 year old or heartwarming for an 80 year old. No matter your gender, ethnicity, or pace you take in this human race we call life.

We can breathe easier when the sun sets on your face.

Often in my life I have found myself running.

Now running is not something I usually wish to engage with, which is what makes this special. But most often in my life you can find me running towards a sunset to engulf myself in all the beautiful colors.

As a child my family and I used to RACE to the local beach near our grandparents ocean home

Sticking my feet in the sand by the water

As if it would get me closer to the edge of the horizon

Time frozen

That's the thing about sunsets you see...

Their colours are both near and far

Simultaneously

Inside of you

And outside

Connecting us all in this common thread called beauty

nature poetry

Heather Miller

Like the rain falling rhythmically on the tin roof outside my window, I will leave moments better off because I was in them and I could.
