Mud Puddles

Playing in the Rain

By Mother CombsPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Splish Splash,

Playing in the rain,

Jumping in the puddles

Go, Gina, go.

Splish Splash,

Dancing in the mist,

Pouncing in the mud,

Go, Joel, go.

Splish Splash,

Bouncing around,

Eager to join,

Belle wants to play, too.

Splish Splash,

Throw the ball, Gina,

Throw the ball.

Belle wants to play fetch

Splish Splash

*It rained enough here for the Splish Splash to pop into my head. Once it did, I couldn't get out of my head all the time as a kid, my sister and I played in the rain and/or the mud. Once I wrote this poem, it reminded me of all the Dick and Jane books I read as a child.

It's so funny you mentioned Dick and Jane. That's exactly what the style of your poem evoked before I even read the aside.
