Be careful down where the crawdad's sing

The boy you meet will only be there for a fling

For him it wouldn't be a loss

He lives his life in the swamp

Unless, of course, you're into that kind of thing

But get mixed up with him and your daddy will definitely ha a reason to give you a good womp

Embarrassed that his daughter skipped out on school

To meet with the boy on the dock

Both of them he would like to give a nice clock

Instead she should be in NYC sipping expensive coffee

Paid for generously by corporate thieves

Living a life never in fear of what crawls in the reeds

A better place to suit all of her needs

But her father's opinion has never been part of who she wanted to be
