Kitten's Play

Happy Halloween

The old cabin had grown quite shabby

Since it had been left to the witch's old tabby

With the familiar finally freed

He just didn't feel any domestic need

Fortunately with the witch's unsuspected death,

there were no dings nor dongs

For surely there would have been throngs of faeries gathered round with feasts of berries

But these just wouldn't suit this kitty

He was much more carnivorous than chivalrous

As to why he would rather slay than lay in the window sill all day

At least there weren't any mice at play

So he wouldn't be considered a good for nothing feline

But as for all the dust littering the chairs and floor

To the broom closet he would still make a beeline

When he heard a knock at the door

For the paranoia due to the lack of bells at the witch's funeral

surreal poetry
