Mrs…
Dedicated to my dear friend and 11th grade biology teacher.
She said she was a dragon
With fire in her eyes.
She taught us life’s lessons
And never told us lies.
She breathed out little teachings,
Not flames of ruby red.
She didn’t breath the fire,
Instead it sprouted from her head.
A mane that licked her cheeks and ears
And trailed down her neck.
It grew as much as she did
On the toughest trail to trek.
She had been a mother
Many many times before,
But her students loved her also,
But perhaps not more.
She guarded all her eggs
With her knowledge of the world,
And as her tiny dragons hatched
She’d watch their wings unfurl.
We’d fly away and leave her
With the young ones in the nest.
It was her fighting spirit
That helped us to perfect our steps.
But no matter where we flew to
She would always find out
The deeds that we accomplished.
Though she never had a doubt.
So I will tell my children,
And they will listen eager,
Waiting to hear the tales
Of our dragon, Mrs...
