Mr. Ice Cream Man

"Ding, Da Ding, Ding, Ding Ding!"

We could hear the sounds of the ice cream truck a block away.

"Ding, Da Ding, Ding, Ding Ding!"

We were never afraid of white vans...we chased them!

But times have surely changed.

But back then,

We revered him.

He would arrive right on time.

After the bike rides,

and Double Dutch rounds,

After hide go seek,

After we ran out of breath,

The "Bum Pop" Truck would appear almost magically.

"MR. "BUM POP" MAN,

BRING ME A TREAT!"-

Chocolate Eclairs and Strawberry Shortcakes,

Ice Cream Sandwiches,

he had everything tucked away,

"SWEET!"-

Before we heard him coming,

We made sure to have a dollar. -

And, if he seemed like he would pass us up,

One of us would chase,

The other,

would holler! -

SCREWBALLS, FUDGE BARS,

COOKIES AND CREAM!

DRUMSTICKS, DREAMS BARS,

he's got what you need!

FREEDOM POPS were the best with the Red, White, and Blue. -

Choco Tacos,

Character Pops.

Bubble gum eyes,

I'm getting De ja Vu! -

If he didn't show up,

It was usually a bummer. -

This is a tribute to the "Ice Cream Man".
