Calm my soul,

smooth my brow

press the wrinkles away

**

Etch my palm with your tongue,

soak me in enduring love,

I'm snapped to your soul

reel me in with that Motown beat

we’ll sway slowly to the sizzling strains

snapped snugly, securely

**

Calm my soul

smooth my brow

press the wrinkles away

**

Snapped to you as

you hum us home, in a

baritone of aint too proud to beg,

while I sing our repeating chorus

you don’t need to beg,

you reach out, I’ll be there

Hips swaying slowly

moving to the beat

**

reel me in, rock me to

the Motown music,

it always brings us home

**

You are the matchstick setting me aflame

ignited, burning in the beat

sizzling, swaying, rocking in the rhythm

you reeled me in with the Motown music

**

Baby, I need your loving he whispers

to me, and

calms my soul,

smooths my brow

presses the wrinkles away

Oh wow this was so good. It’s got me pulling out my Sam Cook album

Well-wrought! I love that old Motown stuff! I prefer R & B before they got carried away with synthesizers and voice modulators, though some of the modern stuff is good too.
