Mother where are you?

Mother where are you?
Photo by Grant Whitty on Unsplash

Laying on my bed watching a photo

Of you laying in a hospital bed

Your stroke ridden body

Medical devices wrapped around your head

What are you thinking or dreaming

Are you happy?

And what am I thinking am I crazy?

It's hard to imagine a woman with your strength

Could be reduced to just laying there

Without clear intent it's not what you represent

You are a go getter, hustler a large part of the community

You are a mother, sister, aunt, a staple in the family

So where did you go?

And what are you doing there?

Is it an enchanted forest like in the fairytales

Like we all like to hear

Is there that great white light

And did you talk to God

Or is it dark infested where trees grow cesspools in pods

You know we kinda miss you back here

Always the life of the party

Loving, giving, caring and feeding everybody

I really don't like seeing this picture

But I can't put it away

Seared in my cortex is where I want it to stay

sad poetry
