Morning on the Chickahominy River

Looking out on the Chickahominy River

The sun rises,

Starts a new day,

The night fades away,

Looking out on the Chickahominy River,

The beauty of this river delivers,

The cypress trees,

Stand there in such ease,

The glimmering sun,

The day just begun,

Sailing through the thick forest,

As time will stand still,

A morning on the Chickahominy,

Is such a thrill,

Hearing the birds chirp,

While they dig their beaks,

In the soft miry dirt,

The water fast it flows,

Where it all ends,

We don't know,

Have we seen the best part of Virginia yet?

The life lived here,

Will not make you fret,

When you spend a morning,

Along the Chickahominy River.
