More Orphans For the Machine

orphan-crushing machine: a metaphor used to describe how society ignores a larger, systemic problem to focus on affected groups or individuals

By CT IdlehousePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Young Kelly's selling lemonade,

To fight the cancer in her brain...

Insurance companies won't pay,

To stop the machine.

/

Teacher barely scraping by,

Hovering the poverty line.

She makes a penny, they make a dime,

And still won't stop the machine.

/

Bread and circuses,

Distract the filthy savages,

Send the other orphans in,

For the machine.

Focus on the politics,

Ignore the damages,

Send the other orphans in,

For the machine.

/

Kids raising money,

To clear lunch debts for the hungry...

What the fuck is wrong with this country?

Stop the machine!

/

Politicians with fat pockets,

Concerned with only their profits...

Keep us working so we're too exhausted

To stop the machine.

/

Bread and circuses,

Distract the filthy savages,

Send the other orphans in,

For the machine.

Focus on the politics,

Ignore the damages,

Send the other orphans in,

For the machine.

/

Land of the free...

Terms and conditions apply...

We signed a blank contract

And put a price on our lives.

How much will your daughters pay,

For your choices made today?

How many kids will be crushed

Under the debts they shouldn't have to pay?

/

Bread and circuses,

Distract the filthy savages,

Send the other orphans in,

For the machine.

Focus on the politics,

Ignore the damages,

Send the other orphans in,

For the machine.
