Moonstruck

A Reminder from a Faithful Companion

"Shinin' Through" by Dana O. Crandell

I forget too often to look up.

The night

And the spectacle revealed as the light fades

Still fill me with childlike wonder.

The moon,

Constant companion, nearest neighbor -

No less a mystery than the cosmos itself,

Tugs at my curiosity as it does the seas.

Dancing,

Performing in a duet choreographed by the Ages

And practiced since birth,

It reminds me to strive for perfection.

Balanced

And balancing us in a constant exchange

Of forces beyond our comprehension,

It reminds me to seek equilibrium.

Battered

And scarred, it continues its journey,

Faithfully completing its cycle over the eons,

Reminding me to weather the storms.

Minuscule

In the vastness of the beyond,

Playing a part in a symphony of untold dimensions,

It reminds me that we are a part of something far bigger than we can imagine.

Hidden

Save for the reflection of a light not its own,

It still moves oceans and calls to the creatures below,

Reminding me that nothing – and no one - is insignificant.

The moon is one of the mysteries of the universe - just like the oceans are. They are mysterious and it never gets old staring at them. I love the moon and the stars and the ocean waves. If they could talk you wonder what they would say, they must have seen so much. Absolutely beautiful - Nicely Done Dana

What a wonderful poem that is both coherent and beautiful! You are right, none of us are insignificant and the moon has been our ever-faithful companion. Great job!

Your words beautifully capture the awe and inspiration the night sky evokes. The moon's dance, its endurance, and its role in the grand cosmic ballet are profound reminders of our own journeys and significance. Thank you for sharing this poetic reflection!
