Moonlight on an Empty Room

A quiet night, a memory’s glow, and the echoes of love that once lived here.

By Habib kingPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

Moonlight spills through the window pane,

Soft as a whisper, quiet as pain.

It dances on walls, on the cold wooden floor,

Illuminates silence like never before.

The chair in the corner still holds your shape,

The air remembers how you'd escape

Into laughter, into stories we knew,

Now shadows sit where you once moved through.

The room isn’t empty—just changed in its core,

It holds what was here, and waits for no more.

Books still lean where your fingers last fell,

The silence is loud with the stories they tell.

A coffee mug rests, untouched by time,

Traces of mornings, sugar, and rhyme.

I run my hands along the dusted frame,

Still half-expecting to hear your name.

Curtains flutter like breath from the past,

Reminding me not everything lasts.

Yet here in this hush, the moon gently weaves

A warmth through the ache, like soft falling leaves.

You are gone, but not gone from the space,

Your echo lives in the air’s embrace.

In every creak and every gleam,

You visit again—if only in dream.

This room once burst with morning and light,

Now it shivers beneath silver night.

But moonlight teaches what time conceals—

Even empty rooms can help hearts heal.
