Moon Over London Bridge

Lighting up the past and present

Moon Over London Bridge

London Bridge on moonlit nights,

Silvered arches, quiet flights,

Shadows stretch across the Thames,

Whispered echoes, secret names.

Footsteps fall in muted tune,

Ripples shimmer under moon,

Gas lamps glow with softened light,

London Bridge on moonlit nights.

Fog drifts low and veils the stone,

Soft as sighs, it chills the bone,

Silent barges float below,

Their lanterns dim, their faces glow.

Beneath the arches, secrets sleep,

time moves slow, and shadows creep,

Ancient walls remember cries,

And tales of love and dark goodbyes.

Wind threads through the iron rails,

Singing low, forgotten tales,

Ghostly whispers brush the air,

Promises lost and hearts laid bare.

A lone crow calls from high above,

Its cry a song of ancient love,

Reflections twist upon the stream,

Distorting all the waking dream.

Bridges tremble under weight

Of footsteps seeking chance or fate,

Stone and steel recall each glance,

Each hurried walk, each stolen chance.

Mist and moonlight intertwine,

Mingling shadow, stone, and time,

Every footfall leaves a mark,

Every shadow holds a spark.

London Bridge on moonlit nights,

Holds the city in silvered sights,

Every step a fleeting trace,

A moment caught, a quiet grace.

And if you linger, silent, still,

You hear the river, soft and chill,

It murmurs stories, old and deep,

London dreams while others sleep.

This was beautiful — the imagery made London Bridge feel alive, carrying both history and mystery. I especially loved how the moonlight and fog became storytellers themselves. A graceful and atmospheric piece.
