Emotions can be such transient feelings

They come, and then they go

Like a ship in the night, or a storm at sea

Tomorrow, you would never know.

But some stick and hang around

Like the love you have for someone new,

Or that someone special that you found

Some are so sharp they cut like a knife

And pierce right through your heart,

When you’ve lost that one that you loved

And don’t know how to be apart.

But some linger on and never seem to go

Those deep feelings that you feel

For a mother, father, or a child

Deep emotions that you cannot conceal.

Emotions can be such transient feelings

We really need to know

How to keep the ones we want

And how we let the bad ones go.
